Pollença is a municipality on the Balearic island of Mallorca. About 16,200 people live here. Within the municipality, the population is concentrated in three main areas of settlement and most of the residents live in the main town of the same name, which is about seven kilometers from the coast, in Port de Pollenca and in Cala Sant Vicenç. The municipal area with a size of about 150 km2 also includes the entire Formentor peninsula. The city of Pollença is known as the “cultural capital of the north”. In addition, the superficial appearance of the city probably contributes to this image: the ocher-colored quarry stone house facades and the small, narrow streets as well as the beautifully decorated balconies create the impression that an artist was at work here.
