The suburb of Cala Major is located in the southwest of Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic island. The landscape of the small town is characterized by an impressive steep coast, at the foot of which there are several small sandy beaches. The largest of these bays is the Cala Major of the same name. As one of the earliest tourist resorts in Mallorca, Cala Major still houses a few hotels in its center, the year of which dates back to the early days of island tourism. In line with the needs of international visitors, the city has an abundance of discos, bars and a wide variety of restaurants. The center is lively almost around the clock and attracts guests from the surrounding hotel complexes. A different picture of the popular holiday destination Cala Major is shown at the entrance to the village. Hidden from tourists by high walls is the summer palace of the Spanish royal family, named Marivent. Unfortunately, the public is not free to visit the imposing building.
